PSL Official Anthem – Ali Zafar.

Najam Sethi kehte hain Pakistan Super League hai “Pakistan’s biggest product”. But bigger than Ali Zafar? Come on Sethi sahab. Magar lagta hai wo bhi samajh to gaye thay ye baat, iss liye Ali Zafar ne gaya PSL ka official anthem. Patari kitties layee hain aap ke liye PSL ki excitement, EXCLUSIVE!

New Album!

Episode 6 – Coke Studio 8.

In mashup heaven! Mulazim Hussain brings a touch Reshma’s ‘Hamjholiyan’ to Fizza Javed’s sweet composition, ‘Ve Baneya’. Rizwan & Muazzam’s Qawwali power meets Shazia Manzoor’s gentle folk in ‘Hare Hare Baans’, and Ali Haider puts new life into one of his old gems, as Sara Raza joins him on ‘Jiya Karay’.

New Track!

Man Moriya The Sketches Ft. Mai Dhai.

The band sat on a great recording of Mai Dhai for a year, just to figure out how best to support her voice. This is a tune compiled with extreme thoughtfulness and great taste. Like being taken through the Thar with a sympathetic tour guide.

New Track!

Kadi Aao Ni – CS8 (Mai Dhai & Atif Aslam).

Mai Dhai Ji, hum aap par fida. Atif Aslam & the House Band join the country’s biggest voice to add some ‘disco’ flavor to a tender, heartfelt lament sung to a lover far away. Coke Studio has treated Mai Dhai with immense respect and reverence, nothing less than she deserves.

New Track!

C.O.N (Count of Nil)Saad Follows.

Lahore ki rooh, London ki khusbooh. A haunting new indie release that will remind you of Johnny Cash. Simple, but damn interesting.

New Album!

Singles Redhouse.

Kya mashriq aur maghrib ka kabhi milaap ho paye ga? Kya bijli ki qillat mein bijli-tastic music ban sakta hai? Ji haan, ji haan. Redhouse continues to churn out soulful, smooth electronica. They are really carving a space for themselves in line of Pakistani musicians that spurred on something bigger than themselves.

Featured Album!

Manto OST Jamal Rahman.

If you needed any more reasons to go watch Manto, here are four. Jamal Rahman draws on the country’s best vocalists, quality poetry, and subtle, brilliant instrumentation to augment the story of a man who deserves no less than greatness. Neither do you, hence highly recommended. Kamaal.

New Track!

Through The BlindsTollcrane.

What is this song trying to do? Take you on a trip maybe, make you dance perhaps, or just get you on another planet. It does it all. Next time you think life is at a standstill, try this antidote.

unnamed Until the next Haftanama – Dhayr sara pyaar,

Team Patari.

Keep Loving:

Welcome to the Patari Top 20, a weekly chart for the most played tracks on Patari.pk – a web and mobile app for Pakistani music. Each week, we will be sharing this chart which tracks the newest releases in Pakistani music ranked according to the number of times users listened to them on Patari during the given week. This week’s charts cover the period from the 15th to the 21st of September, 2015.

This edition of the Patari Top 20 marks a momentous occasion, as for the first time since the season began, a song from Coke Studio is not the number one track at the end of the week. Instead, the honour goes to Khumariyaan, whose song Tamasaha was not only the most played, but also the most shared and favourited track for the week. The response to this song, which is a studio version of a single they had previously released, went a long way towards confirming Khumariyaan as one of Pakistan’s most cult acts.

The song that came second on all these measures was Rangeela by Ali Azmat, and indeed Coke Studio absolutely dominated the rest of the charts. It had all of the songs from last week’s episode in the top five, followed by three more entries from earlier in the season. At number 9 was Kadi Aao Ni, released only on the last day of the chart period. However, the undisputed frenzy created by a duet between two of the most iconic voices in Pakistan meant that it still ended at this position. There were three more Coke Studio 8 tracks out of the remaining eleven songs, which underlined the overwhelming impact of the show on the music scene.

The charts also features several bands from the colloquial underground which have significantly cult followings. The Sketches are at no. 14, while Karachi indie darlings Sikandar Ka Mandar have seen Baaghi stay almost a month at the charts, currently at 13. Rounding off the list at 20 is Abdullah Qureshi, whose Sufi Medley remains one of Patari’s all-time most played songs.

Film and drama soundtracks have become both very lucrative and popular in the last few years, although there are only two such entrants here. Jamal Rehman’s work with the Manto soundtrack, which was released much earlier than the film, has continued to be popular with users. The same longevity is seen in the songs by Noori and Shiraz Uppal for Karachi Se Lahore. These two songs sandwich the all-time most played single on Patari since it was launched – Bandook by SomewhatSuper.
